Foodies at the Fair

I can smell the funnel cakes baking and hear the music playing as I take a sip of my creamy chocolate milkshake. I can hear children laughing and see the bright lights from the ferris wheel dancing across the fairgrounds. Everyone is celebrating “farms, families, fairs & fun” at the 2018 Lebanon Area Fair. Lebanon Valley takes pride in this event as it is voted the best attraction of our area. The fair offers a great variety of events like live entertainment, carnival games and rides, food, farming, truck pulls, fireworks and more!

It’s no surprise that the food itself at the fair seems to be many visitors favorite part. The most popular treat is the fair’s milkshake. This year, many people have said raspberry is their favorite flavor. Visitors also choose from isles of food trucks lined up and down the fairgrounds for dinner or just a snack.

Here is the Buzz on this year’s favorite food trucks:

The first food truck that I heard people highlight is called Makin’ Whoopie Pies. This brand-new food truck kicked off its first event at the fair! They specialize in crafting customized whoopie pies from an assortment of over ten cake flavors and twelve cream filling flavors. Customers also have the option to fill their whoopie pie with ice cream. The next food truck I stopped at was Mr. Sticky’s famous sticky buns. Choose your favorite toppings like walnuts or cream cheese and peanut butter icing, both paired perfectly with an ice coffee.

Another desert to pick up at the fair is a fresh peach sundae made with local grown peaches from Seyfert’s Orchard. The sundaes are created with vanilla ice cream, a pile of peach topping, and whipped cream on top. Although these don’t come out of a food truck, I think the line coming from the sundae stand speaks for itself.

So, grab something to snack on from your favorite food truck or food stand and make your way around the Lebanon Area Fair to enjoy fun with farms, families and friends.
