Drifting into Summer

Summer has just arrived in the Lebanon Valley, which means it’s time to finally enjoy all the outdoor activities and beauty our county has to offer.

Looking for a great way to cool off? Enjoy one of Lebanon Valley’s natural watersheds by taking a breezy ride down the Swatara Creek.

This past weekend, I packed a picnic for three when my two friends and I decided to spend an afternoon on the water. We dropped our paddles and canoe into the Swatara right past Harper’s Tavern located north of Annville. With all rain we’ve had this month, the water levels were high enough to make paddling a breeze.

We spent the afternoon drifting down the Swatara and enjoying a picnic on the water only a few miles away from home. We also paddled past history as the creek parallels the historic Union Canal. This short-day trip is fun for the whole family. Come enjoy one of Lebanon Valley’s natural lazy rivers for free this summer!
