Christkindlmarkts in the Lebanon Valley

Christkindlmarkt literally translates to Baby Jesus Market. It is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas, held during the four weeks of Advent.

You have two opportunities to visit Christkindlmarkts in the Lebanon Valley. The first is Saturday, December 1st, 9am to 3pm, when the 6th Annual Lebanon Christkindl Market is held in the grounds of Coleman Memorial Park, Lebanon. The roads around the carriage house will be lined with outdoor booths. There is a heated tent featuring unique handmade crafts and traditional Christkindl treats. Father Christmas will be here for children to visit as well as the Belsnickel. The Belsnickel will tell the children what happens to those who misbehave.

Saturday, December 8th, 9am to 3pm, Historic Schaefferstown host their 15th Annual Christkindlmarkt. The lower level of the Brendle Museum, Schaefferstown is filled with traditional crafts from the area. Handmade pottery, hooked rugs, handmade feather trees and other crafts are available for purchase. A traditional tavern lunch is held in the Gemberling-Rex House across the street from the Brendle Museum.
