Shopping in the Lebanon Valley: 2024 Holiday Edition!

Where to Shop & What to Buy in the Lebanon Valley with Emmily Longenecker

Let’s talk about one of my favorite topics – shopping! Tis’ the season of giving, and the Lebanon Valley is a fantastic place to find thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list.

The charm of shopping locally isn’t just about finding great gifts—it’s about supporting the small businesses that make our communities thrive. In the Lebanon Valley, you’ll find one-of-a-kind items, personalized services, and a sense of connection that no big box store can replicate. So, join me for a morning of shopping as we check off those names one by one!

Before we dive in, we need fuel—coffee, of course! Since we are heading to Myerstown, let’s stop at Timber Creek Coffee for one of my favorite local lattes. Their coconut latte is easily in my top five – creamy, delicious, and perfect to kickstart the day.

With caffeine in hand, it’s time for our first shopping stop: Leitzel’s Jewelry. This gem of a store offers jewelry in a wide range of styles and prices, making it a perfect destination for gift-giving. I love browsing their watches for the men in my life and finding unique, special pieces for the women on my list. Trevor and his team are amazing at helping me pick out just the right items, and bonus—they even offer complimentary gift wrapping, ensuring that every gift looks as special as the recipient.

Next, let’s head to Carriage House Collective in Quentin. This is one of my favorite places to shop for gifts because they feature a mix of their own curated items alongside beautiful products from local artisans. I can never resist their Maggie & Louise candles or the beauty products and cosmetics from Wildflowers on Fox. I also love their boutique clothing, unique t-shirts, and fun jewelry. The shop is brimming with charming knickknacks and home goods—there’s truly something for everyone.

Onward to Palmyra! I have two “go-to” spots here that are perfect for finding unique gifts. First, let’s stop by Palmyra Pharmacy & Gift Shop. Yes, it’s a pharmacy, but trust me – it’s so much more. As our local Hallmark store, it offers a treasure trove of gift ideas for every occasion. The store is filled with thoughtful items, from beautifully designed ornaments and seasonal décor to candles and keepsakes. One of my favorite areas to browse is the kids’ section, which is packed with books, puzzles, and an array of plush toys. It’s my top pick for finding something special for the little ones on my list, whether it’s a classic storybook or a cuddly stuffed animal.

And while we are here, don’t forget to stock up on essentials like Christmas cards, gift wrap, and money holders. The welcoming staff and festive atmosphere make shopping here such a joy, especially during the holiday season. If you’re anything like me, you’ll leave with your shopping bags full and a few ideas for adding a little extra magic to your holiday celebrations.

Old Forge Gift Shoppe

After crossing a few items off our list, our next stop is the charming Old Forge Gift Shoppe, located across from the Reigle airport. This boutique has everything from shoes and handbags to clothing and home décor. It’s my go-to for stylish gifts, and I always leave with something unexpected and fabulous.

As we head back toward Downtown Lebanon—which I’m lucky enough to call home—we’ll make a stop at Bomberger’s Ace of Annville. This is my secret weapon for finishing off my shopping for the men on my list. Whether it’s a handy tool, a gadget, or a new Yeti container, I can always find something they’ll love here.

Our next stop is all about those on our list with paws. Let’s visit Brandt’s Mill Specialty Pet Store. We can’t forget about our furry friends on our shopping day, and what better place to find fun treats and toys to include them in the holiday celebration? This shop is a haven for pet lovers, offering unique and high-quality items your pets will adore. Plus, their knowledgeable staff can help you find the perfect gift, even one for the pickiest of pets.

Finally, let’s wrap up our day with a stop at Wertz Candies in Downtown Lebanon. Their homemade caramel corn and chocolates are perfect for those hard-to-buy-for folks or as a thoughtful gift for the host of any holiday party. You can’t go wrong with a sweet treat from this beloved local spot.

Now that I’m back home, there’s just one final purchase to make. One of my favorite gifts to give is a membership to the Lebanon Community Theatre. It’s the gift that keeps on giving with access to a variety of performances throughout the year. It’s a great way to support the arts locally while also giving your loved ones unforgettable experiences.

Thanks for joining me on this festive shopping journey through the Lebanon Valley! While we covered some of my favorite local spots, there are so many more unique shops and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re looking for handcrafted treasures, boutique clothing, or specialty foods, the Lebanon Valley has something for everyone on your list. Shopping locally not only helps you find thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts, but it also supports the small businesses that make our community so special.

I hope this guide inspires you to explore and celebrate the incredible shopping destinations right here in our backyard.
Happy shopping, and may your holiday season be as bright as the smiles on the faces of those receiving your gifts. See you out and about in the Lebanon Valley!
