Women in Business Scholarship Luncheon
4/27/16 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm$35
The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee will host a Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday, April 27, from 11:30 a.m. through 1 p.m. The luncheon will be held at the Coleman Chapel located at 1901 W. Cumberland St. in Lebanon. Becky Briody of Chef on the Go will be the caterer for the event. Lebanon Valley College is the presenting sponsor, and both HACC Central Pennsylvania’s Community College and the Lebanon County Career & Technology Center are supporting sponsors. The luncheon will formally recognize two Women in Business Non-Traditional Student Scholarship winners, and will feature a presentation by Tracey Jones of Tremendous Life Books.
Each year the Women in Business Committee awards the Non-Traditional Student Scholarship to aid students in furthering their education. A non-traditional student is defined by the committee as someone over 25 years of age and/or a single parent or displaced homemaker. The student must be registered at least part-time in an accredited institution. This year, the committee will be awarding two, $1,000 scholarships. The scholarship winners are Kristina Denlinger and Jamie Rhodes; both students attend the Evangelical Seminary located in Myerstown.
Tracey Jones, born in Mechanicsburg, PA, is the president of Tremendous Life Books. She stepped into the role of president in 2009 to carry on the legacy of her father, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, who started the business in the hopes of “changing the world one book at a time.” After attending the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM, Tracey entered the Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
After 12 years in the Air Force, Jones left the military in 2000, and began working at a top semiconductor manufacturing firm located in Austin, TX. While in this occupation, she earned her MBA in Global Management. Before moving back to PA, Jones most recently served in St. Louis as the project manager of a diverse base operations service contract for the government. Jones’ hobbies include biking, golfing, traveling, spending time with her pets, and reading.
The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Committee’s purpose is “to foster growth and development of women entrepreneurs and professionals through programs and events that provide membership value and ROI [Return on Investment]” to the Lebanon Valley Chamber. In addition to the scholarship fund, the committee annually sponsors and coordinates several high quality educational and networking events.
