2015 Old Fashioned Family Picnic & Charity Drive

On Friday, August 28, the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its 2015 Old Fashioned Family Picnic & Charity Drive. The picnic will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will last until 9:30 p.m. The event will be held at Ironwood Community Park, which is located between 14th Avenue and East Chestnut Street in Lebanon, and will feature Kauffman’s BBQ, a variety of games, and raffle prizes. The picnic is open to all Chamber members, their employees and families, and to members of the public.
Kauffman’s BBQ Chicken will be sold and available for pick-up from 4:30 through 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $7 and include chicken, a baked potato, and a drink. Anyone wishing to pre-order Kauffman’s BBQ must have their orders in by August 14. Meals will also be sold at the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Chamber’s Family Picnic and Charity Drive will also feature a variety of midway games and activities. There will be bounce houses for both children and adults, a dunk tank, and a number of game booths. Money raised from the midway games will be given to a select group of local nonprofit organizations, including Philhaven, Lebanon Valley Volunteers in Medicine, Lebanon Family Health Services, Junior Achievement of Central PA, Inc., Compeer of Lebanon County, Lebanon Valley Family YMCA, the Sexual Assault Resource & Counseling Center, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, Domestic Violence Intervention of Lebanon County, Inc., and Lebanon Ridge Community Health.
The picnic’s schedule of fun activities also includes a watermelon seed spitting contest, a three-legged race, a pie eating contest, a big foot race, a cake walk, a gunny sack race, a water relay race, and a tug-of-war. There will be a volleyball tournament sponsored by Jonestown Bank & Trust Co., Elmcroft Senior Living, and Ephrata National Bank. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament, sponsored by Fulton Bank, Cedar Haven, and Lebanon Federal Credit Union, will also be offered.
Raffle tickets are currently on sale for the Chamber’s picnic event. Currently, the raffle prizes total over $4,000 in value, with the grand prize being a seven-night resort stay of the winner’s choice. Raffle tickets cost one for $10, five for $45, and 12 for $100. Other prizes include a complete vehicle detailing, a membership to the YMCA, a Gretna Theatre package, and much more.
