Second Saturday Living History Program

August 8th @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Throughout the day, historian Jack McClain will be on site to share the fascinating and little-known connection between the historic Cornwall Iron Furnace and one of the Civil War’s most celebrated military leaders, Major General John Fulton Reynolds. General Reynolds’ father, John Reynolds, Sr., became manager of Cornwall Iron Furnace in 1836 and served in that role until his death in 1853. During his tenure, he oversaw many of the Furnace’s most significant industrial and architectural improvements on behalf of the Coleman family, helping to shape the site visitors see today.

This informal, drop-in presentation is included with regular museum admission and is free for Friends of Cornwall Iron Furnace members. Stop by anytime during your visit to learn about the Reynolds family’s important role in Cornwall’s history and its remarkable connection to one of the Civil War’s most respected generals.
