Patriotic Community Sing

Join the “Tent Pegs” and your neighbors in a patriotic community sing as we honor our veterans, this Memorial Day, with songs from the Civil War.

A Campmeeting event, co-sponsored by the Mount Gretna UM Church with Pastor Andrea Haldeman leading. In the 1890s, when Mt. Gretna was founded, veterans’ gatherings and Memorial Day commemorations (then called Decoration Day) would have included songs written during or just after the Civil War. Some of these songs are still remembered today.

Join us in singing them and a few lesser-known ones. (Programs will include lyrics.) Songs include “Rally ‘Round the Flag” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The Tent Pegs consist of Mt. Gretna Marching Band musicians who’ve played at Gretna-based events and parades.
