LECTURE: Lebanon County in the Revolution
Although far from the major battlefields of the American Revolution, the region that is now Lebanon County played a vital role in supporting the fight for independence. This free presentation, hosted by Cornwall Iron Furnace Associates, Inc., explores how local communities helped sustain the Revolutionary War effort from 1776 to 1783. Visitors will learn how the Cornwall Iron Furnace supplied cannon and ammunition to the Continental Army, how local militias provided manpower for the cause, and how Continental troops were quartered throughout the region. The program will also examine the ways the war affected everyday life on the home front, highlighting Lebanon County’s rich and often overlooked Revolutionary history.
Presenter Jack McClain serves as a Historic Tour Guide at the Cornwall Iron Furnace Museum and as a board member of the Friends of Old Annville. Passionate about history since middle school, Jack devoted his academic career to the study of the past, graduating summa cum laude from Lebanon Valley College in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Outside of his professional and academic work, he has participated in living history as a Civil War reenactor for more than a decade and creates historical content on platforms including YouTube and Twitch.
