History of Canals

July 4th @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Join us in an American History lesson this 4th of July as we talk about the canal system still present within Swatara State Park. Enjoy the morning with a guided hike along Bear Hole Trail where we’ll see the old canal lock structures, talk about the use and history of the canals in the area, and enjoy any wildlife present along the way!

The parking at Waterville Bridge is limited, if needed you can park along the road leading to the lot. There are no bathrooms present at the site, so please use the bathroom prior to your arrival. It is encouraged to bring sun screen, bug spray, water, and comfortable walking shoes. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
