Here’s What’s in Store for October’s First Friday in Downtown Lebanon
Lebanon, Pa. Visit Lebanon Valley has partnered with the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts (LVCA) and their First Friday Art Walk, happening on Oct. 4, 2024. Taking place from 5 to 8 p.m., the Art Walk will feature an interactive community art project which invites all in attendance to “put their hands on Lebanon” by adding their handprints to a large-scale scene of Lebanon. The evening will also include several other exhibits and activities at various locations in downtown Lebanon:
- LVCA’s Gallery 770 (770 Cumberland St.) will host the interactive community art project. Additionally, the gallery will host an exhibit of Visit Lebanon Valley’s Photo Contest through the years with live music by Luther Tyree and light refreshments. Visit Lebanon Valley will also have a table at the gallery with giveaway totes, stickers, postcards, and more. The gallery will remain open from 5 to 8 p.m.
- St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (22 S. 6th St..) will give tours from 5 to 8 p.m. and host a presentation on the history and architecture of the building by Bob Hoffman at 6 p.m.
- Lebanon Picture Frame & Art Gallery (847 Cumberland St.)will host the opening reception of their latest exhibit “Parenthood,” which features a collection of blown glass and mixed media art by Cynthia Hardwicke and Justin Pettingell, from 5 to 8 p.m.
- Gretna Theatre(Corner of Cumberland & 8th Sts.) will perform previews of their fall immersive experience, “The Headless Horseman’s Revenge,” at multiple intervals from 5 to 8 p.m. Visit Lebanon Valley will also hold a drawing for tickets to the show’s opening night in Mt. Gretna on October 10.
For all of 2024, Visit Lebanon Valley has been celebrating its Year of the Arts as a way to honor the vibrant arts community throughout the Lebanon Valley. By partnering with LVCA on their October First Friday, Visit Lebanon Valley hopes to continue that celebration, “This year, we’ve celebrated and honored the arts by way of the Outdoor Art Show in Mt. Gretna, the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery in Annville, and the St. James Players in the Lebanon Valley Mall, among others,” says Visit Lebanon Valley president Jennifer Kuzo. “Next month at the October First Friday Art Walk, we hope to show people that the arts are here in downtown Lebanon too!”
Multiple businesses in downtown Lebanon will be open during the Art Walk, as well as some businesses in Annville and Mt. Gretna. See the LVCA’s Facebook page for the most updated information on the Art Walk.
